I haven’t written a blog post since December 2017, but so much has happened in the last 40 days.
I started the new year with the mindset that I was a winner and that there is a brighter side to every situation. I also wanted to embrace everything that happened in my life and use it to fuel me closer to my passion.
January 28th, I participated in the Zeta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc’s Miss Black and Gold Pageant. It’s so funny how months of hard work happen in just 3 hours but it was so worth it.

Overall, the exhaustion, long nights and many practices paid off. I ended the night with the title of Miss Philanthropy because you already know we #RaiseThoseCoins. It was a great experience with the 11 other ladies. Everyone worked extremely hard and I am so happy we all #PushedThrough. Thank you to the UGA Alphas, Cierra of June and July Productions, Past Queens Kayla, Cilicia and Morgan for always being there for us because we know sometimes, it got rough.
Shoutout to my loves Teanna for my hair, Johnna for my makeup (@_paintJOb on IG), my best friends for my talent and the crew for coming to support.
Six days later, it was back to business and it was time for me to participate in my 6th Georgia Daze weekend. Was I tired? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. Seeing the UGA Class of 2022 taking in every experience on campus in their short 48 hour trip with Georgia Daze reminds me every time why we all work so hard to make changes on this campus and around the world to celebrate and have diversity and inclusion. Shoutout to my exec for holding down the fort when it was 20 million things to do to make sure that the weekend goes off without a problem. Let’s do it again in April!
Other things are happening as well. I’m reading more for my leisure (and for class but that doesn’t count), I’m back to meal prepping and constant gym workouts and I’m praying more. I’m spending more time with my friends (lol is that a good thing somedays?). I’m checking in with my family more. I’m doing things on my own more, without the gratification or approval of others. I’m preparing to be better than I was before.
40 days have come and gone. I’ve remembered that everything will be okay.
Happy Friday folks.
