New Perspectives.

For many of you that read my blog, I have always written about content that just sparks my mind and heart when I feel like it. However, there will be a new approach to writing (at least for the next 8 to 15 weeks). I’m bringing Grad School Life to alexasmakenzie.com

So, for all the new visitors: welcome. AlexasMakenzie.com was originally created as an outlet for me to just kind of vent about what I need to get out. I’ve talked about undergraduate life, family life, hair and beauty life and anything in between.

Now, I don’t most many pictures of family. Mostly because I like to separate myself from the amateur athletics world as much as possible. It doesn’t mean I love my siblings any less. It’s just my way of being able to continue to live my life without people trying to always talk about my siblings and what they are doing on and off the court. I have three biological siblings, one adopted older brother and one soon- to- be brother in law in my life. We all look alike and act alike, so family dinners and FaceTime calls are pretty hilarious to me.

Here’s one of my favorite moments from the University of Georgia. I worked with first year students, their families, undergraduate admissions, athletics, and so much more. The summers in Athens were my favorites just because it was much more peaceful and people could really get to know the school just a little bit better.

This is another one of my favorite moments. I was a Fall 2018 Initiate of the Eta Xi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc and the first African American to graduate from the University of Georgia is also apart of Alpha Kappa Alpha. It wasn’t my first time meeting her, but being able to share AKA with her was something truly special and dear to my heart.

Lastly, I’m also a teacher in Oklahoma. I’m not new to education but I’m mostly definitely new to running my own classroom with 6 periods. Half of my students are taller than me, but it doesn’t bother me at all. My maternal grandparents were both decorated educators in the state of Arkansas and I am following exactly in my grandmother’s footsteps by teaching High School English.

That’s a little insight on my life. Just taking all the things God has given me and changing the world one kid at a time (hopefully).
